Caring Brings Success

Board of Governors

As a result of the 1989 Education Reform Order, Governors have been given responsibility for the overall management of the school.

“The role of the Board of Governors is to manage the school with a view to providing the best possible education and educational opportunities for all of the pupils.  This involves:

  • setting the strategic direction for the school;
  • taking corporate decisions in relation to the statutory functions of the board of governors”.

Reconstitution of the Governors

The process for the reconstitution of Boards of Governors for the next four year term of office (2018-2022) has now been initiated by the Department of Education (DE). As part of this process the Education Authority (EA) and the DE will be appointing governor representatives on an ongoing basis during this four year term of office.

Training process/awareness workshops

The reconstitution of school governor’s process has commenced for the 2018-2022 period. The CSSC has a role in identifying, encouraging and nominating governors in the Controlled Sector.

Governor workshops are being hosted during March to encourage people from the local community to become school governors.

Stakeholders such as school staff and parents of pupils and others within your local community have a vital role to play. Many in this audience will already have an interest in the running of the school due to family / friendship connections.
